We have PDF copies of many information forms for artists, dealers, and volunteers to the convention. We've posted additional information about programming as well as other general convention information. We are currently working with the hotel to get the group code for online reservation (though you can call the hotel directly to get the convention rate).

No April Fool's joke here! RoundCon 2012 is 4 months away.

We hope you haven't forgotten that RoundCon 2012 is happening this August. We've been quietly planning behind the scenes for our first ever Summer convention! We'll be at the Double Tree by Hilton hotel in Columbia. We've been there before, it was Radisson when we were there for 2008 convention.

We are continuing to strongly focus on anime and gaming like the past two convention but will also expand our creative track.

We've updated the convention page with some of the things we are planning. We are going to roll out more information as we get commitments and more details. Remember to follows on Twitter (@roundcon) and like us on our Facebook page.

It's still not too late to pre-register for Roundcon! Registration is open until 11:59PM Monday the 17th. For anyone who pays to pre-register we have two very special offers to choose from!

Preparing for RoundCon

If this is the first time you've gone to RoundCon, or even the first time you've ever gone to any convention, then you're likely very excited and wondering what to take and what to leave at home. Realistically, it's fairly straightforward as long as you've got the one magical item that'll make your con experience a lot more enjoyable; a schedule.

Yes, on the outside that sounds somewhat boring and a little rigid, but that's not quite true - having a few panels scheduled in doesn't mean you've not got four hours to do whatever in the middle of the day. Whether you're off to see a SF/F author talk about characterization or you've allocated some free time to lunch and Partypoker on your con laptop, you're better prepared and can plan what's in your bag each day.

With a lot of gamers, learning what to take is an important part of becoming a con veteran. A portable games console, ereader or a book is a wise idea, or a netbook for some gaming or web browsing when you're in a queue or on an hour or so of downtime. And that's before your gear!

Yes, if you're coming in costume, bringing games with you or any other equipment, then do remember that the majority of the time you'll be lugging it around with you! Luckily, there are savvy people out there who have worked out how to work their luggage into their costume, or how to use bags with thicker, wider straps to minimise the toll a hundred miniatures will take on your shoulders and spine. Good carrying equipment and good costume-suitable luggage equipment ideas are are all on the web, so if you get researching, you'll find a lot of great tips and tricks.

Most of all - take yourself, a sense of humour, and a smile, because you'll have a great time regardless in the company of those who share your interests and enthusiasm for everything from sci-fi to tabletop gaming. We look forward to seeing you at RoundCon.

Tom Elmore, a Irmo, SC based expert on Sherlock Holmes will be at RoundCon hosting several panels discussing the various books, films, and stories centered around the detective. In addition he'll be doing a panel on the very real Jack the Ripper discussing theories and fact of one of the most famous serial killers in history.

RoundCon 2011.1 Updates

After finally concluding a bidding process with multiple venues we are pleased to finally announce where RoundCon 2011.1 will be taking place. This fall the event will occur at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Columbia in northeast Columbia. You can visit our hotel page for more information. The convention rate for rooms is $89/night.

Unfortunately we also had to delay the convention by a week, so the new dates for RoundCon 2011.1 will be October 21, 22, and 23. We apologize for those of you who may have already made arrangements for the previously advertised date. We made every attempt to keep the original date but given space availability and venue we had to delay by a week.

Now that we have locked down a venue and location we are immediately opening pre-registration through October 14th. Pre-registration rate is $25 for the weekend. We are not offering a premium preregistration package for this convention.

Remember to go to our forums to ask any questions you have about RoundCon and talk with other RoundCon members.

And now we close the book on yet another RoundCon. This year is particularly special given it was our 25th anniversary. We added a track geared towards anime and a creative track featuring many guest writers and artists. This has been the biggest RoundCon in recent memory. This year we had just under 250 people attend the convention. Many of you came up to us during the convention and relayed your thanks for running a great convention this year. Allow us to also thank you for making RoundCon such a success!

Once the convention staff have taken a few weeks to rest and access we'll start discussing RoundCon 2012 and a few other things we have in mind.

We are doing several new things this year so our programing is going to continue to fall into place all the way up till the convention. We plan on publishing a master schedule of all our events very soon.

RPGA Schedule & Preregistration

RPGA members take notice!

The RPGA schedule is not available for pre-registration and viewing for RPGA members.

How do I find out the schedule of games?

First, if you haven't already you must sign up for an account on our forums. You can do that by clicking here.

Second, login to our members section here with your forum account (please remember that username and passwords are case sensitive).

Third, you must first submit a pre-registration from with us. So click on Pre-Register next to the convention you want to register for and fill out the form. You do NOT need to submit a payment in order to view the schedule.

Finally, now that you have submitted your pre-registration form you can go back to the members section and click on Register for an Event to se the full convention gaming schedule including RPGA and non-RPGA events.

NOTE: Even if you haven't paid you can still sign up to judge an RPGA event if you have indicated you are an RPGA member in the pre-registration form.

When can I sign up to pre-register for RPGA or other games on the website?

If you have already submitted a web pre-registration all we need is your payment. Once it has been received you can pre-register for games.

If you have any more questions regarding event pre-registration please visit our forums and post under the RoundCon 2011 sub-forum.

Registration
Pre-registration for RoundCon 2011 is now open! Please visit http://www.roundcon.com/members to pre-register now!

This year we are offering two levels of membership when you pre-register: Gold and Basic. Essentially Gold membership offers additional perks like a free T-shirt and other con goodies. Basic membership is typical pre-registration like we have done years before. If you register as Basic you have the option to later upgrade to Gold before pre-registration ends. We will not downgrade memberships, you cannot go from Gold to Basic. Details on what's offered in Gold and Basic memberships can be found at: http://www.roundcon.com/membership.php

We are trying something out new this year with registration. If you do not understand please feel free to ask us here in the forums or e-mail us. We'll be happy to clarify any registration questions you may have.

Game Masters
As usual if you intend to run games you need to pre-register as well. We recommend that GMs register for Basic Membership. Like before if you are planning on running three or more games at RoundCon please do not submit a payment right away. We'll let you know if you need to or not at a later time.

What if you pre-register for Gold instead? Simple. If you pre-register for a Gold Membership you must pay the full price. We will not compensate your pre-registration for Gold even if you run the minimum three games we generally require. What we will do is give you a free Walk-in Weekend pass instead.

Example
You pre-register as Gold and pay the $75. You then decided to run games for us and meet the three game threshold to get a free membership. We will then give you a free membership that is transferable to whomever you like. This will function like as a voucher that you bring to the convention and turn in for a free Walk-in Weekend Pass. If you have a friend or significant other with you can give them this free membership as you check in or before hand.

How the voucher is distributed is still yet to be determined.

We'll be posting updated Game Master guidelines soon, and we will announce when you can begin submitting games for RoundCon 2011.

Hotel Information
A technical glitch has held us up from providing the link so you can reserve a hotel room at the convention rate online. Additionally, staff at the hotel is unable to take reservations for RoundCon 2011 hotel rooms right now. We'll notify you when our room block is ready and you can make a reservation.

New Website & RoundCon 2011

Welcome to the new RoundCon.com! We've freshened up the site to better organize future conventions and provide a new look. Comments on the site are welcome by e-mail to the webmaster or discussing it on the RoundCon forums.

We are also officially announcing RoundCon 2011. We'll be at the Columbia Marriott in downtown Columbia on the weekend of February 18, 19, and 20. Pre-registration for RoundCon 2011 will open next week.

It seems like this RoundCon came and went by way too fast! I guess it did since it was only three months ago that we had wrapped up RoundCon 2009. We were very pleased with RoundCon 2010! We had a higher attendance than projected. Everything ran smoothly, it was a nice change of pace.

Once again the staff and membership impressed me. I am very thankfully that I got the opportunity to sit and speak with many of you during the show. It was a good feeling to see so many familiar faces combined with new faces at RoundCon. In fact, this was the first RoundCon in 12 years that I actually played a game!

Many thanks to all the GMs and staff members that made the show possible. Without your support and dedication RoundCon would never be able to function.

There are a lot of special plans in the works for RoundCon 2011. This will be our 25th year anniversary and I am pulling out all the stops! Watch this site for announcements!

RoundCon 2010 Update

Howdy!

Hard to believe RoundCon is in just a few short days! We have a few quick announcements.

First, we have reopened convention pre-registration. If you have not registered for the con and wish to do so, now is the time. Pre-registration will close Wednesday at 6PM. Game sign up will stay open until 11:30PM on Wednesday, January 27th.

Speaking of game sign up, if you have previously signed up to play in game sessions, please take a moment and double check your schedule. There was a small glitch that made some members show up twice on the game sign up forms. This has been corrected.

The time slot for Session Two has changed to 7:30PM to 11:30 PM. At present, the gaming room must shut down at midnight. Roundcon's ability to utilize the space after midnight depends entirely on the number of hotel rooms RoundCon books.

The Holiday Inn Express still has hotel rooms available. Not only are these rooms new, they are actually suites and are large enough to game in. They include both a mini-fridge and microwave as standard. In addition, a hot breakfast for four is included in the room rental.

If you desire to stay at the hotel during the convention please call the hotel to make your reservation. When calling the hotel ((803)-695-1111) please ask for Alex Lee; she will be handling reservations for all RoundCon members. If Alex is unavailable please leave a message and she will call you back.

If you made reservations through the website or by talking to another hotel representative, please call and speak to Alex Lee so that she may put you in our exclusive block.

Game Sign Up Notice

We have noticed a strange double booking bug where some members are listed for the same game twice. We have corrected the bug, but ask anyone who has signed up to play in events to please double check thier schedule. We apologize for any inconvenience.

The schedule is fluid until the first day of the convention so it is always possible that something displayed now might disappear or a new game will appear. Pre-Registration for RoundCon 2010 is now open. RoundCon 2010 will take place at the Holiday Inn Express Fort Jackson (the same hotel as RoundCon 2009: Better Late Than Never). To reserve a hotel room please visit the hotel page. To pre-register for the convention go to the registration page for information. The site has been updated with basic information regarding the 2010 convention. We are roughly two months out from the convention so we'll have more information regarding games and more as soon as we can.

Non-RPGA Gaming Information

For those interested in what will be appearing during the convention we have begun to post information on the Gaming & Events page (http://www.roundcon.com/events.php) of the website. For now only non-RPGA events are listed on our website (scroll down about half way on the page, it is listed under Master Schedule of Events). Those interested on our RPGA selection this year should visit our page on Warhorn (http://www.warhorn.net/RoundCon2009).

Sometime next week or the week there after we will open up non-RPGA games listed in the members section of RoundCon.com to pre-registration. At that point members who have pre-registered may reserve a slot for games (including Shadowrun Missions).

This just in; the hotel will continue to honor the hotel rate for the Con until rooms are sold out. Just a reminder, you reserve the room with a credit card, then you pay when you check out. You don't have to pay now. Some people are confused that you have to pay when you reserve the room and they are waiting for payday...but reserve it now and pay when you leave.

Major Events Update

We finally are able to give you all a basic outline of what we will be offering at the convention this year. For full details please visit the events page. As we continue to get closer to the con we will provide more details on particular events.

There are two new events of note that we want to make you aware of now. We are introducing :

Anime Music Video contest. The music video must be at least 30 seconds in length and no longer than 6 minutes. It may not contain nudity, offensive language, and/or excessive violence. The AMV must be primarily music. All entries must be received by September 25th and can be submitted on a non-authored DVD disc or the video can be e-mailed to the Con Director.

We are also introducing a Cosplay Contest. Dress up and create a 5 minute skit to perform at the convention! For more on that please go to the events page.
